The new Ascension Bay Lillard group touched down in Mexico around midday to a bright sun and a crowd of eager smiling faces. Our private shuttles arranged travel from Cancun to our destination of the small town of Punta Allen. The journey from Cancun to Punta Allen is not easy, but well worth it.
Along the way, we passed through palm tree groves and sandy coastlines covered in bright, white sand. After stopping for lunch, we drove through the famous city of Tulum with tropical forests lining both sides of the roads. The further we drove, the more it looked like paradise. Saltwater filled the air as we got closer to the coast.
Once we arrived and unloaded the shuttle, we admired the beach just steps away from the lodge. The kids enjoyed a nice break from the heat in air conditioned rooms and dining area. We ate a wonderful three-course meal featuring both Mayan and traditional Mexican cuisine. After a nice meal we chatted about our upcoming week here in Punta Allen.
The Jacks (both trip directors are named Jack) agree that this group of kids feels like something special. With our stomachs full and bodies tired, we headed off to bed after a long day. Everyone is excited for our first full day of Ascension Bay flats fishing, and we will keep all of you updated on our progress throughout the week.
