Charlie's love for the wildest of places helped inspire a generation of young adventurers. We want to honor that legacy with a scholarship fund in Charlie's name. The fund's purpose will be to provide outdoor adventure scholarships for teenagers who share Charlie's adventurous, positive, and caring spirit, and would not have the means to join otherwise. Getting that started will take time. In the meantime, a Charlie Parr Memorial Fund has been established to receive tax-deductible contributions through the Western North Carolina Community Fund. Charlie's wife, Dr. Jessica Parr, is the director of the fund. 100% of donations will be transferred directly to the new scholarship fund or other 501c3's that support getting teens outdoors.
You can contribute online through this direct link. You will receive a thank you card and receipt for your tax purposes.
You can also write a check made out to The Community Foundation of Western NC and Charlie Parr Memorial Fund in the memo and mail it to:

If you have any questions about any of this process, please don't hesitate to reach out. Through outdoor adventures, Charlie helped change the lives of countless teenagers, but he always strived for more. If it were up to him, every teenager would have the opportunity to experience a wilderness expedition. Please help us honor Charlie with your donation.
Best,
Will Lillard
