Puerto Rico No Name Lodge Expedition

Puerto Rico No Name Lodge Expedition

Spend six nights and five full days on flats boats exploring the unpressured waters of Puerto Rico. No Name Lodge is a small, pop-up lodge that takes advantage of all Puerto Rico offers, on and off the water. The fishery has trophy permit out on the reef and big snook tucked back in the mangroves, but the tarpon makes it so special. Work on that double haul and strip set because you will get a lot of shots. Honestly, it is hard to explain without sounding like we are exaggerating. After a full day on the water, we'll tie flies with our guides, take a walk around town and experience the vibrant Puerto Rican culture, or walk the beach looking for more tarpon.
No Name Lodge caters to 8 adventurous anglers at a time, and we will have the whole lodge to ourselves.

What to Bring

We have compiled a list of all you will need for a successful and comfortable expedition.

My son decided to go on this expedition and he now wants to go on every trip they offer. The opportunities to fish, learn about the area they are traveling, spend time in beautiful locations, and access fishing that most people never know about is a priceless experience. I must say I was a little apprehensive as we decided to do this on a whim, but it was by far the best summer experience he has had.

HOW, WHERE, AND WHEN DO PARTICIPANTS MEET THEIR GROUP?

The Puerto Rico No Name Lodge Expedition meets at the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. From there, we will all board a small plane to Mayaguez, PR, where we will be picked up by our guides and brought to the lodge in Boqueron. At the end of the trip, we will all board the first flight of the day from Mayaguez to San Juan, where the trip leaders will help you get checked into your next flight. The small plane from San Juan to Mayaguez and back will be booked by LFFE and billed to you. Please book flights that arrive in San Juan before 4 pm on arrival day and depart from San Juan after 9 am on departure day.

Do I need to have fly fishing experience?

Saltwater fly fishing presents many unique challenges. Participants will benefit from some fly-casting experience.  This trip caters to anglers prepared to make accurate 30ft+ casts in windy conditions. Some time spent practicing with a 10 or 12 weight rod is encouraged.

Do I need my own fishing equipment?

Students are responsible for their own fly rod, reel, line, and a few other personal fishing items. Please contact us for a full packing list. Don’t have your own gear? Not a problem. We have top-quality Orvis rods and reels available to rent.

What other equipment will I need?

Not much! You should be able to pack everything you need for the trip into a carry-on bag. Review the packing list to be sure you don't forget anything.
