From Ljubljana Airport to the heart of the Julian Alps, this expedition combines some of Europe’s finest fly fishing with adventure, nature, and authentic Slovenian culture. The trip is focused around three main bases, beginning near Lake Bled, continuing to Bovec, and finishing in Ljubljana. From our first base at Turistična kmetija Pri Biscu, we will fish the Sava Bohinjka, Radovna, and other alpine rivers. When we are not fishing we will visit Bled Castle, meet local shepherds, and take part in a traditional cheese-making experience followed by a tasting. We will also enjoy outdoor adventures such as rafting on the Sava Dolinka. The second stage takes us to Bovec, in the heart of the Julian Alps and on the doorstep of Triglav National Park. From here, we will fish some of Slovenia’s most spectacular rivers, including the Soča, Lepena, and Idrijca and their tributaries. In crystal-clear mountain waters surrounded by dramatic peaks, we will target marble trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling, and other native species. Beyond fishing, we will explore the World War I battlefields of the Soča Valley, visiting trenches, forts, and other military fortifications connected to the events described by Ernest Hemingway in A Farewell to Arms. We will also visit the marble trout conservation and recovery center operated by the Tolmin Anglers’ Association. We will conclude the expedition in Ljubljana, discovering the city’s culture, cuisine, and markets. One day will be dedicated to the Adriatic coast, with a visit to Piran, a charming seaside town known for its Venetian architecture, narrow streets, and Mediterranean atmosphere. Here, we will have time to swim in the sea and enjoy the local food and historic surroundings. An adventure combining some of Europe’s finest alpine rivers with nature, history, culture, and authentic experiences of Slovenian life.

Please book flights for your child that arrive at Ljubljana (LJU) on July 6 between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm local time. For the return trip, please book a flight departing from Ljubljana (LJU) on July 19; departures may be scheduled for any time that day.
Is prior fly fishing experience required to participate in the expeditions?
Some prior experience in fly fishing and the ability to cast at medium distances are recommended for this expedition.

The following are not included in the program fee: travel and cancellation insurance,

purchases outside the scheduled program, especially during the stay in Barcelona.
Do you offer rental fishing equipment?
Yes, we offer rental services for waders, boots, rods, and reels.
What types of flies should I use for fishing?
We will send you a PDF with recommendations for dry flies, nymphs, and streamers
suitable for this expedition. Additionally, we will prepare a selection of flies for you to
use alongside your own flies during the trip.
Can the expedition route change?
Yes. Each year, river conditions and flow rates may vary, so this itinerary represents the
standard plan we will follow under normal conditions. The route may be modified if
necessary, always aiming to guarantee the best fly fishing experience and provide top-
quality service for our participants.
Will I have mobile signal and Wi-Fi access during the trip to communicate with my
family?
Yes, all accommodations during the expedition have mobile signal and Wi-Fi, allowing
communication with family. However, at the Cerbillonar cabin, located in a remote
mountainous area, there will be no mobile signal or internet. During
this time, the guide will carry a mobile phone for emergencies and access to emergency
contacts if needed.
What is required to travel to Slovenia?
A valid passport with a visa (if required) is necessary for the duration of the stay
in the European Union.
Participants must also have travel health insurance covering any illness that may
occur during the expedition.
