Dear Parents,
Greetings from the Montana Road Trip Expedition. After a smooth arrival day at the airport, we made our way to the LFFE base camp just outside the fly fishing Mecca, Ennis. After getting settled in, we took turns cooking up some personal pizzas in our pizza oven. Dinner wrapped up just in time for a quick walk to the top of the property to take in the first of many Montana big sky sunsets.
Tomorrow we kick off our fishing with a day wading the upper Madison near the famous Three Dollar Bridge. The Madison has been fishing better every day, and with any luck, the salmonflys will hatch during our trip. The salmonfly hatch is one of the most epic hatches of the year, and to say the group is excited about the prospect is an understatement. After two days wading the Madison, we will make our way to the Missouri River to meet up with our crew of float guides for a few days of float fishing. From there, it is off to wherever the fishing is best.
